days are different
now coffee
lasts
longer
and shadows all
day I weave
wishbones and
wait
all night they un-
ravel no
the line is not
long
nor the hours
nor this coffee
as I said just
so the loom
holds
up
this poem humbly offered up for OpenLinkNight at dVerse poets.
ha, great line breaks along the way with this...i do love my coffee...weaving wishbones, i hope you get a few of them...the unraveling of them is so evocative...nice piece...see you at OLN here in a bit...

wow...i got lost between those line breaks and the deep thoughts and emotions that tumble from one to the next stanza...masterfully done angie....moved me..
ReplyDelete...oh and i mean lost in a good way..in a very good way actually..
ReplyDeletebeautiful, Angie. the breaks works so well here, ultimately holding the poem together--like the loom does. "so the loom / holds / up" -- and a nice response to Yeats' "the centre cannot hold."
ReplyDeleteNice day of weaving wish bones and waiting ~
ReplyDeleteHappy spring day ~
As others have said, the enjambment adds so much to this. I love the last stanza/
ReplyDeleteLike the images, like the structure, and the closing lines are glorious poetry.
ReplyDeleteGreat work here.
So delicate a verse, with meaning poignant as the line breaks.
ReplyDeleteYou words fall out like pulsing harbour lights, beautiful Angie
ReplyDeleteYes, the loom certainly holds up! Your middle name is Penelope, yes? Love this poem, Angie. Love to see you at dVerse more often..:))
ReplyDeleteI like coffee, drinking some now.
ReplyDeleteAnd I guess the loom is working fine here too. holding up.
Sparse, yet very full.
Lovely, loomcraft :)
